It is built by Karabet and Nikogos Balyan in 1856 . The site of palace was originally a bay on the Bosporus which was used for the anchorage of the Ottoman fleet.

Dolmabahce Palace is composed of 16 sections: 110.000 m2 area, 285 rooms, 46 halls, 6 baths and 68 toilets. 14 tons of gold were used to decorate ceilings in gold leaves.

Administrative apartments , Ceremonial Hall , and Imperial Harem (Harem-i Hümayun) consist the main sections of Dolmabahce Palace. A collection of oil paintings of the famous painter is being exhibited.

You can also visit the study room of the founder of Turkish Republic, Ataturk.
